Release Date Announced for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
Although rumours have long been circulating about the release date for the film adaptation of Seth Graheme Smith’s 2009 novel Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, the studio recently confirmed its US release date.
After many delays, the film is due to be released on the 19th of February 2016, although release dates for other countries have yet to be announced.
The adaptation is directed by Burr Steers, who is best known for directing 17 Again and Charlie St. Cloud. Cinderella and Downton Abbey star Lily James, who takes on the role of Elizabeth Bennet, will be joined by Sam Riley, star of Control, as Mr. Darcy, Dr. Who’s Matt Smith as Mr. Collins and Douglas Booth, star of BBC’s Great Expectations as Mr. Bingley.
Speaking to The Independent, Matt Smith said: “I think the film has an edge,” he says. “Just seeing the women fight is cool and sexy – there’s something quite hip about it.”
Jane Austen’s classic tale of romance is given a grisly twist as the characters face ‘an army of undead zombies.’
It is expected that a UK release date will be confirmed soon.
